They could have down scaled the power output they shot for one level to something like 300 hp & 400 lb/ft of torque and gotten 30 mpg overall, still a significant improvement in. But more importantly, it’s good for 25 mpg combined, a marked improvement over the current 4wd tacoma v6’s 20 mpg combined (according to the epa).
